Caring for your flowers after your wedding

After your wedding, keep your flowers somewhere cool and dry. A room with air conditioning, an outside covered porch or a garage would be ideal.

NEVER spray your flowers with water as moisture trapped in the creases of the flowers can affect the preservation process.

You may put your flowers in a fridge BUT ONLY IF the fridge is big enough to accommodate your flowers and foliage without any of them touching the walls of the fridge otherwise your flowers will be damaged. The temperature of the fridge must not be below 5 degree Celsius.

DO NOT put your flowers in a freezer as you will damage them permanently.

If possible, keep your flowers watered during your wedding reception to stop your flowers from wilting.

If you have a hand-tied bouquet, place the stems in a vase of water. Don’t worry about your ribbon getting wet – we can clean it afterwards if needs be.

If your bouquet has oasis in the handle you can pour a small amount of water onto the oasis to keep it moist. Take care not to splash your flowers in the process.

Bouquet Packaging Instructions

You will need a sturdy cardboard box to put your flowers in – this should be slightly larger than your bouquet.

If sending a hand-tied bouquet, soak a few sheets of kitchen roll with water and wrap around the stems. Than place a small plastic food bag or similar around the stems of the flowers and the kitchen roll (but not around the flowers) to help with moisture retention.

Make a nest in the bottom of the box with crumpled tissue paper and/or newspaper and/or kitchen roll and place the bouquet in the nest with the flowers facing upwards.

Fill in around the bouquet with more tissue paper up to the top of the box in order to minimize movement of the bouquet during transit. Make sure you do not crush or bruise your flowers in the process.

Please write your name and wedding date on a piece of paper and attach it to the inside of the box with tape so that we know who the bouquet belongs to. If we have not already received your deposit, please include a cheque made payable to The Flower Preservation Studio Ltd and place it in an envelope again taped to the inside of the box.

Close and seal the box.

Clearly write our details on the top of the box – The Flower Preservation Studio Ltd, 6 Little Fallow, Lychpit, Basingstoke, Hants. RG24 8UN. Write in large letters “FRAGILE – FRESH FLOWERS” and “THIS WAY UP” with arrows pointing up towards the top of the box.

Ensure that your package is left at the correct designated collection point at the correct time/date for the courier.
