“What can I do to keep my flowers looking their best after my wedding ?”
Caring for your flowers after your wedding
After your wedding, keep your flowers somewhere cool and dry. A room with air conditioning, an outside covered porch or a garage would be ideal.
NEVER spray your flowers with water as moisture trapped in the creases of the flowers can affect the preservation process.
You may put your flowers in a fridge BUT ONLY IF the fridge is big enough to accommodate your flowers and foliage without any of them touching the walls of the fridge otherwise your flowers will be damaged. The temperature of the fridge must not be below 5 degree Celsius.
DO NOT put your flowers in a freezer as you will damage them permanently.
If possible, keep your flowers watered during your wedding reception to stop your flowers from wilting.
If you have a hand-tied bouquet, place the stems in a vase of water. Don’t worry about your ribbon getting wet – we can clean it afterwards if needs be.
If your bouquet has oasis in the handle you can pour a small amount of water onto the oasis to keep it moist. Take care not to splash your flowers in the process.
Bouquet Packaging Instructions
“How do I get my flowers to your Studio after my wedding ?”
1. You will need a sturdy cardboard box either with a lid or one with flaps that can be sealed to put your flowers in. This should be large enough to comfortably accommodate your flowers. You may if you wish strengthen the corners of the box using lengths of dowel but this is not essential. Ideally, the flowers need to be placed upright in the box to avoid putting unnecessary pressure on the flowers - a cardboard florist’s vase or something similar will support the flowers very nicely.
3. Make a nest in the bottom of the box with long shredded paper and/or crumpled tissue paper and/or crumpled up newspaper and/or crumpled up magazine paper and/or kitchen roll and place the bouquet in the nest with the flowers facing upwards. NEVER use plastic or bubble wrap over the top of your flowers as this will make your flowers hot and sweaty and encourage bacteria growth.
