The Flower Preservation Studio Frequently Asked Questions
What is Flower Preservation?Flower Preservation is a carefully controlled method of extracting moisture from plant material which allows the flowers to retain their original shape, form and colour.Do you just preserve flowers from weddings?NO – we also preserve flowers from any special occasion or event such as anniversaries, christenings or memorial events. Can all flowers be preserved?YES - as long as a flower is fresh we can preserve it. However, there is one group of flowers that we can sometimes experience difficulties with. With the exception of the Dendrobium Orchid, we have found that other members of the Orchid family can lose a lot of their colour during the preservation process. However, they are still worth preserving as they do retain their shape and form beautifully and we have special techniques to enhance their colour after preservation. Will my flowers still look like they did on the day of the event?YES – the shape and form will stay the same. The flowers take on an “antiqued” look after preservation and the colours will deepen slightly. Red flowers with a yellow undertone keep their colour particularly well but flowers with a blue undertone will darken in colour. E.g. roses such as “Passion” or “Grand Prix” will turn a dark, almost claret colour. True blue flowers will remain true and many white flowers will turn a light shade of cream. However, the flowers still look beautiful and will be recognisable as your flowers.Does my florist need to be involved?NO – but it might be nice to let her know you are having your flowers preserved so that she uses the freshest flowers possible.I don’t live anywhere near you. Can you still preserve my flowers?YES – we offer a UK wide bouquet collection and delivery service. Flowers are normally collected by our courier service the next working day after your wedding/event.How can I keep my flowers staying fresh after my wedding ?Try to keep your flowers somewhere cool and dry – a garage is ideal. The most important thing is to get the flowers to our Studio as soon as possible whilst the flowers are still fresh. How long will it take for you to complete my picture ?Depending on the time of year, your picture will take around 20 weeks to be completed and delivered back to you. Do you accept orders after the event ?YES – we can accept flowers up to 7 days after an event as long as they are still relatively fresh. Please feel free to phone us if you have any flowers that are older as we still may b able to help you.How long will my keepsake last ?Like any other piece of art it should be kept away from direct sunlight and humid environments and direct heat sources.
